Written by Lutheran Pub loves featuring confessional Lutheran resources and the Lutheran Songbird Project is such a blessing, we wrote to the Rev. Dr. Heath Trampe and asked for him to share with us some information about the project. Pastor Trampe serves as the Senior Pastor at Faith Lutheran Church (LCMS) in York, Nebraska. We are grateful he agreed to share. Be sure to also catch him on KFUO, Friday, May 10, from 9-9:15am as he talks about the project.

“[B]e filled with the Spirit, addressing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody to the Lord with your heart, giving thanks always and for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ” (Ephesians 5:18b-20)

The Lutheran Songbird Project, founded in November 2017, has a simple goal: to provide high quality vocals for some of the most beloved Christian songs and hymns of all time.  Whether your goal is to listen to hymns across your devices, get help understanding the tune of a particular hymn, or simply to share Christ-centered, cross focused materials with the people in your life, this project has something for you.

Andrea “Aunnee” Trampe (sounds like on-knee), the one you will see most often in the music videos, has been singing her entire life.  First in worship, as a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Kearney, Nebraska, and then in choirs at Kearney High School and the University of Nebraska at Kearney.  Most recently, she sang with the Heartland Chamber Chorale in Fort Wayne, Indiana.  She currently serves as Music Teacher at Emmanuel-Faith Lutheran School in York, Nebraska.

I (Heath Trampe, her husband) currently serve as Pastor at Faith Lutheran Church in York, Nebraska.  While I do not contribute musically (which is a mercy, I assure you), and will not often appear in the videos, I do help to edit them and spread the message on social media.

The Lutheran Songbird Project began out of a desire to see more wholesome, biblical musical content on the Internet.  Since one of the best and most accessible sources for this music is the Lutheran Service Book, our first goal is to sing through all of the public domain hymns in the hymnal.  There are hundreds.  At a rate of nearly one music video each week, the online library is growing quickly.  So where can you find these videos?

Currently, the best places to find the Lutheran Songbird Project’s videos are on Facebook and YouTube.  Aunnee and I would be very grateful if you could follow the project on Facebook and subscribe to our channel on YouTube.  The library is currently at 50+ videos, and should grow by an additional 50 each year.  All suggestions are very welcome, though we are trying to focus on public domain hymns at this time.  No hymn is too well known or too obscure for Aunnee to sing, so please get creative!

All the content on Facebook and YouTube is free of charge, and there are plans for a website and other music formats in the future.  Thank you for your support as we try to fill the internet with Christ-glorifying music!
